The Workspace settings control the five panes students can use beside chat: Canvas, Code, Library, Quizzes, and Flashcards. These settings also include a separate Activities switch. Your choices apply to everyone using the Bloom as a student.
What the Workspace is
Students use the Workspace to write, read course materials, and practise while chatting with Bloom. Enable the tools your course needs. For example, a writing course might use Canvas and Library, while a programming course might also use Code.
Step 1: Open the Workspace tab
- Open Manage Blooms and choose the Bloom you want to configure.
- Select the Workspace tab.
- Use the switch beside each tool to turn it on or off.
- Click Save, then preview the result with View as Student.
If you cannot edit these settings, ask your Bloom Manager or Space Owner to make the change.
Canvas
Canvas gives students a place to draft essays, notes, and responses. They can ask for feedback in the chat while keeping their writing open. See Canvas overview and getting feedback on writing.
Library
Library lets students open course materials alongside chat. Turning it on does not change access to individual files. Check each file’s access level in the Knowledge Base tab before sharing it. See the Library guide for reading materials and following source citations.
Quizzes
Quizzes gives students access to the quizzes published for this Bloom. Enable it when you want students to complete practice questions. See creating quizzes and taking quizzes.
Code and Flashcards
- Code: edit JavaScript or Python and run small examples, preview HTML, or edit other code without running it.
- Flashcards: students create, save, study, and edit their own private decks.
Activities access
The Activities switch enables learning activities for this Bloom. Students open Activities from the sidebar and work through an activity in chat. Activities does not add a pane beside chat or make the mobile Workspace tab appear when all five panes are disabled.
Common issues
I changed a setting but students still see the old tools
Check that you clicked Save, then ask students to refresh the Bloom.
I need a different set of tools for another class
Workspace settings apply to the whole Bloom. Use a separate Bloom if another class needs different tools or course materials.
A tool I need is not listed
Use the tools shown in your Workspace settings. If your course needs another tool, contact hi@bloom.study to discuss availability.
